Workforce Development
Building partnerships for workforce development
Career pathways help workers advance in high-growth industries and are an increasingly popular approach to meeting workforce needs. Creating effective pathways programs, however, takes many partners. MPR worked with teams from 32 communities to develop career pathways partnerships and share lessons about how such partnerships succeed. Participants agreed that good data were essential to drive partnerships, engage legislators, and illustrate the importance of pathways.

Making the transition to postsecondary education
Many adult education students need additional training to move into self-supporting jobs, but they lack the knowledge and skills to enter postsecondary education. MPR manages the Adult Basic Education Career Connections project, which helps adult education students at five demonstration sites acquire the skills they need to enroll and succeed in postsecondary career pathways programs aimed at employment in high-demand industries. Creating community partnerships for adult education
Many communities form adult education partnerships to maximize resources, coordinate services, support local workforce development, and reach more adults in need. MPR created Community Partnerships for Adult Learning (C-PAL), an online resource center, to help communities build and sustain these partnerships. C-PAL offers tools, materials, and links on a variety of topics. Profiles of 12 communities show how real partnerships operate, overcome challenges, and meet community needs. Visit C-PAL.
