How states support career and technical education (CTE)

Based on a 50-state survey, MPR found that CTE can cost 20 to 40 percent more than academic programs, and that states use various strategies to pay for CTE. Wyoming Finance Study

In June 2002, the Wyoming Department of Education approached MPR to develop a statewide funding model to define minimum program criteria and guidelines to identify vocational programs and to fund program delivery within schools. This paper presents our findings and summarizes issues the legislature had to address if the state were to successfully transition to the proposed funding mechanism.
